About Us

Inspiring all sorts of creativity since 2024

More Than Classes. More Than Performances. A Community.

Founded in 2024, Creative Allsorts is a fast-growing, not-for-profit theatre company bringing professional, accessible performing arts opportunities to communities across the North East.

Although Creative Allsorts is still young, our close-knit team has been working professionally and delivering performing arts activities independently for many years. We are qualified and experienced professional performers, directors, choreographers, teachers and creatives, with backgrounds spanning the West End, touring theatre, television, film and community arts.

We’ve brought that experience back home to the North East, giving local children, young people and adults access to high-quality creative opportunities without losing the warmth and personal attention of a small, community-focused company.

Professional Experience. Personal Approach.

Creative Allsorts isn’t a large franchise following the same fixed programme year after year. We know our students and families personally, and we care about creating opportunities that are right for the people taking part.

Our work is student-led and family-led. We listen to what our students enjoy, what they would like to explore and what families feel their communities need. This doesn’t mean we stop challenging our students - it means we remain responsive, flexible and willing to grow alongside them.

No two terms are exactly the same. Students might explore a completely different style of musical theatre, develop their technique, work towards a production, take part in an audition project or perform somewhere new. We use a range of professional, educational and community venues, giving our performers experience of different stages, audiences and ways of working.

We aren’t stuck in our ways. Our team continues to work professionally within the industry, bringing current knowledge, fresh ideas and genuine experience directly into everything we offer. We lead by example, demonstrating the creativity, kindness, discipline, resilience and professionalism we encourage in our students.

Developing People, Not Just Performers

High-quality performance training matters to us, but Creative Allsorts has never been solely about creating polished performances.

We use singing, dancing, acting and creativity to help people become more confident, expressive, mature and self-aware. Our students learn to communicate, collaborate, take responsibility, respond positively to feedback and recognise the value of their own ideas.

We want every student to have the freedom to discover who they are, find their voice and become proud of what makes them different. Our nurturing environment gives them the space to try new things, make mistakes, solve problems and grow at their own pace.

Some of our students may dream of training or working professionally within the creative industries. Others may want to make friends, build confidence, express themselves or simply enjoy performing. Both are equally welcome and equally valued.

Something for Everyone

Our work goes far beyond weekly classes. Creative Allsorts offers an ever-growing range of activities and opportunities, including:

  • Musical theatre training

  • Dance classes and body conditioning

  • Productions and performance opportunities

  • Holiday clubs and creative activities

  • Schools outreach

  • Projects with community organisations

  • Choirs and singing opportunities

  • Exercise and wellbeing classes

  • Private tuition in singing, acting, dance and audition preparation

  • Workshops with visiting professionals

  • Social events, theatre trips and activities for the whole family

We continually look for new ways to share the arts, create opportunities and respond to the communities around us.

Building a Creative Community

We want families to feel part of Creative Allsorts - not just dropped off at the door of a weekly class.

Throughout the year, we bring people together through performances, parties, quizzes, workshops, theatre trips and other community events. These experiences allow friendships to grow across different classes and age groups, while giving families the opportunity to connect and enjoy being part of something together.

As a not-for-profit organisation, our focus is on creating opportunities and making a positive difference. We reinvest in our students, activities and wider community, including by offering subsidised places and scholarships wherever possible.

We aim to make the arts more accessible to local people, including those who may face financial, social or practical barriers to taking part.

Our Aims

Through our classes, workshops, performances and community activities, Creative Allsorts aims to:

  • Develop skills in singing, dancing, acting and performance

  • Build confidence, independence, maturity and self-belief

  • Inspire imagination, creativity and self-expression

  • Celebrate individuality and give people the confidence to be themselves

  • Create meaningful friendships and a strong sense of belonging

  • Provide welcoming opportunities for families and communities to connect

  • Encourage teamwork, communication, empathy and respect for others

  • Improve physical fitness, balance, coordination, stamina, strength and flexibility through enjoyable creative activity

  • Support focus, concentration, resilience and emotional wellbeing

  • Introduce young people to the breadth of the creative industries and their possible career paths

  • Support grassroots talent and participation in the arts

  • Create varied, high-quality performance opportunities across different venues

  • Enrich the cultural life of the North East

Always Growing. Always Listening.

Creative Allsorts may be growing quickly, but we never want to lose the close-knit and personal approach on which it was built.

We will continue to listen to our students, families and communities, create new opportunities, try different ideas and make professional performing arts experiences more accessible across the North East.

Whether someone dreams of a professional career, wants to build their confidence or simply loves being creative, they are welcome at Creative Allsorts.

Because we do more than develop performers. We help people find their voice, express themselves, discover what they’re capable of and become part of a community where they are known, supported and encouraged to shine.
